2026-2027 NCCC Rulebook Overview

What's New in the 2026 NCCC Rulebook

The following text represents new regulations, classifications, and procedural updates found exclusively in the 2026 NCCC Rulebook that were not present in the 2022–2025 versions.

1. General Administration and Sanctioning

The distance requirement for hosting two events of the same type in the same region on the same day was reduced from 150 miles to 100 miles.
Rule 1.4.5.B now explicitly states that two or more Clubs may host separate events on the same day at the same location.
Official flyers must now include the Method of Post Technical Inspection for Record Drags rather than the term “tear down”.

2. Autocross and Time Trial Updates

Safety Exemptions: All roadsters require roll bars in high-speed events except for C8 Hard Top Convertibles (HTCs), which are allowed without a roll bar provided the tops are on and completely latched.
Parade Laps: Mandatory parade laps may now be waived at the Drivers’ Meeting by a majority of the participants.
Timing Equipment: For high-speed events and Time Trials, transponders are recommended whenever available and practical.
Stopwatches: The rulebook now explicitly notes that cell phones qualify for use as manual stopwatches with 1/100 second graduations.
Guest Passengers: Guest vehicles at low-speed events are limited to only one passenger in the front seat.
Venue Sound Requirements: A new section, 2.10 Venue Requirements, mandates the use of specific ANSI TYPE 2 Decibel meters to monitor noise levels 50 feet perpendicular to the course; vehicles exceeding limits are scored as a DNF if not remedied after one notification.

3. New Vehicle Classifications (2026)

Class PP: New class for the 2023 Z06 and E-ray.
Class C8Z: Includes the 2023 and newer Z06 (5.5-liter LT6) and the 2024 and newer E-Ray (6.2-liter LT2 plus FWD Electric Motor).
Class C8ZR: New class for the 2025 and newer ZR1 (5.5-liter TT LT7) and the 2025 and newer ZR1X (LT7 plus FWD Electric Motor).
Vette Karts: Vehicles constructed from Corvette chassis with body panels removed must be classified within Racing Prepared (RP/RPAF) categories and must retain adequate firewalls and floors.

4. Updated Technical Regulations Matrix

Fire Extinguishers: The Element Fire Extinguisher (E50 or E100) with Class A, B, C, or K rating is now an approved alternative to the standard 5BC rating.
Suspension: Factory stock C8 coil-over shocks and springs are now an exception to standard replacement rules; non-stock adjustable or aftermarket versions are permitted in Group 3 and higher.
Brakes: Factory stock Carbon Ceramic Rotors are permitted but require the vehicle to compete in RP and above classes.
Throttle Controllers: Aftermarket Electronic Throttle Controllers are now expressly allowed in all Groups.
Roll Cages: Electric Resistance Welding (ERW) tubing is no longer allowed for new cages starting in 2026; mild steel tubing must be seamless or DOM (SAE 1012 or 1025).

5. Drag Racing Procedural Changes

Record Backups: To back up a record, the faster run is multiplied by 1.005; if the slower run is equal to or quicker than this result, it serves as a valid backup.
Scoring Hierarchy: Event results are now ranked by the number of rounds completed, followed by Fastest or Closest to Dial-In, Breakout, DNF, Red Light, and DNR.

6. Funkhana and Rallye Updates

Funkhana Safety: Helmets and fire extinguishers are no longer required for participants when the vehicle is stationary or traveling less than 10 mph.
Funkhana Classes: Categories are now split between Open Top (Classes A-D) and Closed Top (Classes E-H).
Terminology: A new definition for “Roundabout” was added to the standard Rallye terminology.

7. Championship Point Adjustments

Worker Points: Members can now receive worker points without being present at the event for Course Set-up, Course Pick-up, and towing equipment or timing trailers.
Youth Awards: A new national award recognizes the top three Men and Ladies NCCC Youth members who earn at least 500 Speed points and 250 Non-Speed points annually.

8. New Post-Technical Inspection Procedures

C8 OBD2 Scanner Test: Procedural requirements for C8 Corvettes now involve using an OBD2 scanner to verify Idle MAP and Idle RPM; limits are set at 650 rpm/40 kPa (LT2) and 900 rpm/50 kPa (LT6) to establish baseline compliance.

9. Supplemental Programs

ZORA Program: A new high-level series requiring participants to earn a specific number of FTDs (ranging from 35 to 56 depending on the month of Convention) to qualify for a National Championship Shootout at Convention.
Young Guns Categories: The program for members aged 16–26 is now divided into specific generation categories: C1–C4, C5–C6, and C7–C8.

2026 COMPETITION EVENT NUMBERS

Per current West Region Operating Rules and Procedures, the West Region will again administer a program under which “permanent” entrant numbers may be assigned to those competitors who desire a “permanent” regional entrant number for the current competition year.

Competitors must be current NCCC members. Requests for a “permanent” number will be administered as follows:

  1. From January 1 through February 15, you may request the same “permanent” regional number you had the previous year. You have priority.
  1. After February 15, you may request a number with the understanding that numbers will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Linda Hommer, assigned by the West Region Competition Director, will be collecting your application and fees.
  1. Entrants must send their request form for a number assignment to Linda Hommer no earlier than January 1, 2026. Each club Governor should provide the proper form (included) to his/her members.
  1. Fifteen dollars ($15.00) in cash or check must accompany each request.
  2. The numbers 1 through 999 shall be available for assignment.
  3. Numbers shall be assigned by the RCD, or a designee, as requested on an annual basis following receipt of all requests postmarked as per Items 1, 2 and 3 above. Members who held a “permanent” number the previous year will be granted priority to that same number upon receipt
  1. NCCC membership must be maintained.
  2. In case of more than one request for the same number, the following procedure will be used: First choice will go to the earliest postmark (but no earlier than January 1). In the case of a request for the same number postmarked on the same day, the RCD will conduct a random drawing.
  1. No later than March 15th, the RCD or a designee, will send a confirmation email to each NCCC member who requested a “permanent” number and a list of all currently assigned “permanent” numbers to each Governor of the West Region.
